Benita Willis has made the successful transition from stellar junior hockey player to being the 2004 World Cross Country champion, before making the leap into marathons. She is a regular podium finisher in road races across Europe and America, has won bronze at the 2003 World Half Marathon Championships in Portugal, and is fast becoming Australia’s greatest ever middle distance runner by holding the Australian records for the 2km, 3km, 5km, 10km and marathon.

She has finished 1st at the World Cross (still remains the last non-African to win this event), 3rd at the World Half Marathon, led Australia to two bronze team medals in World Cross, 3rd at the Chicago Marathon (where she broke the long standing Australian record, running 2hr22) and 1st in the Berlin Half marathon, Rock n Roll Vegas Half marathon and Great North Run. Benita’s next ambition is to run a sub 2hr20 for the marathon and qualify for her 4th Olympic Games held in London in August, 2012 (she ran an A qualifyer to qualify for the Australian marathon team for the Olympics when she placed 2nd in the Houston marathon in Jan, 2012 running 2hr28).

She now resides in Boulder, Colorado and is sponsored by Saucony, Generation UCAN and Oakley.
